PURPOSE OF SCHOLARSHIP:
The purpose of the Ruth Armel Scholarship is to strengthen the LWML
in congregations by sending women who are active in their congregations,
but to whom the cost of attending the District Convention would cause a
financial difficulty. This scholarship aims to strengthen particularly
the involvement of minority women, young mothers, single mothers and
other young women.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Has not previously attended an LWML District or National
Convention in 10 years.
- Is involved in local congregation with some activity connected
to the LWML.
- Attends church and Holy Communion regularly.
- Will not attend as a delegate to the Convention.
- Expense of attending the Convention would cause a financial
difficulty.
WHAT IS COVERED:
- The District (Ruth Armel Fund) pays registration, meals at
Convention, housing, and entertainment connected with the
Convention.
- Room charges should be based on 4/room, but 2/room are allowed
if necessary.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED:
Cost of transportation and any other needs not covered above.
Applicant is responsible for securing her own transportation.
NOTE: NO PAYMENT WILL BE MADE DIRECTLY TO APPLICANT.
HOW TO APPLY:
- Fill out the application form, including the pastor's portion.
- Include a letter from your LWML Society President which states
why she thinks you will enhance your society by attending this
Convention.
The deadline is April 30th. The District (Ruth Armel Committee) will
select scholarship recipients and notify them. There can be multiple
recipients.
