Dear redeemed and chosen women of Christ’s kingdom,
We were all redeemed by the same blood of Jesus. We were all chosen by the same Risen Lord to serve Him and bear fruit. In the opening verse, Jesus says very clearly that He wants all believers to be one - to be united. And the result of that visible unity is that the world will believe that Jesus really is sent from God, and come to faith in Him.
In thinking of Christian Outreach, we easily understand evangelism and witnessing as activities. But Jesus makes it plain that unity of believers will make a special impact in witnessing - unity of ALL believers.
Consider your LWML society…what barriers exist that keep the women in your congregation from reaching out together in word and deed to share the Gospel? No barriers? Of the active women in your society, how many are under 30? How many are of a different ethnic background from you? How many are from within a mile of your church? How many are single Moms? How many are simply single? How many are working women currently unemployed? How many are divorced? How many are blind or deaf? You know there are such women in your congregation. You may be such a woman, but how many others are there like you? So why are they not working together with you in sharing the Good News with the non-Christian world?
Sin causes us to be afraid even of Christian sisters who happen to be different from us. God forgives us for this too. But Jesus wants us to trust Him to bring unity, not barriers, among us so we can truly be the witnesses He calls us to be. The Christian Outreach Committee hopes to help you and your society trust God to break down your barriers.
