Have you ever noticed how addicting reality TV shows are? Why did she win the competition for this week, and why did one of my favorites get booted off?
I often find myself swept up in the competition as well as the drama between the contestants. As the show unfolds we find ourselves cheering for certain characters and wishing that others would lose the challenge and be asked to leave. It is so easy to start watching these programs but once you are hooked it is very hard to stop because we want to see who will become the winner, the champion of the competition.
There are many different types competitions and many champions of these competitions. What constitutes a champion to you?
We do face many challenges in our lives. We may at times feel defeated by all the problems that we face, and certainly don't always feel like champions and winners every moment of our lives. Even as disciples of Jesus, we can feel the sting of defeat.
The Good News for is that there is a true champion, who has won the battles we face for all time, and that is Jesus. He long ago left his beautiful home, came down to this dirty and sinful world, lived a perfect life and died a horrible death just so that through him we can become champions. He came down out of his great love for us and because of this we all are winners.
No matter what happens in our lives, we can be assured that Jesus has won the victory for us, and He gives us this victory each and every day of our life. Remember this the next time you feel like you've been defeated by life, and know that you are a champion!
